1 reason added to “Why I Love to Travel”

A few weeks ago, I wrote one of my favorite blog posts, one that I printed out to remind me why I am saving my money and not splurging on a new pair of shoes.

A few people that I know, and who have traveled with me, reminded me that I forgot one reason.

So…

Photo of the Day – Mr. Pronghorn hates tourists.

This little guy, Mr. Pronghorn, was discovered in Custer State Park, South Dakota on the final leg of my summer adventure this year. He was watching all the tourists from across the road play with the donkeys, and shaking his head at them in disgust as they fed them popcorn and chips.

Minervas, Sioux Falls

If you ever find yourself hungry in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, please try Minervas on Phillips Ave.. It was an unexpected and pleasant surprise to fulfil my hunger this summer when traveling back to Toronto from the Rockies.

I tried the Balsamic Steak Tips which consisted of sautéed steak tips, caramelized onions & mushrooms, balsamic glaze drizzle, and roasted garlic mashed potatoes. Deeeeelicious!!

What a great meal! Not sure if I will ever return to Sioux Falls, but if I do, I know where I am eating!

A trip down the I-90

Although I could hardly wait to get back home to see my puppy after my 1.5 month adventure, I thought it was worthwhile to stop in and around South Dakota to check out some of the sites there. They did not disappoint!

One stop I really enjoyed was the town of Deadwood, which was actually a tv series a few years back. It is an old Western town where Wild Bill was killed, and Calamity Jane is buried. Walking down the main street was like transporting myself back to the 1880’s. I felt like I should be wearing my cowboy boots and my gun-sling making sure my hands were close to my weapons (that’s right, I would have 2 guns!) at all times.
